| gzimize | Saturday 12th of November 2005 01:57:43 AM |
| - first of all, let's correct martita's mistakes: learn = aprender (not "estudar" as she said) give up = can be "desistir" too now, hafakan: bebo means "i drink". the verb in infinitive is "beber" and you forgot the accents in café and in água and, javier: orange can be "laranja" too. it's like in english, laranja can mean the colour and the fruit grey can be "cinza" black can be "preto" well, i must welcome martita and hafakan to this forum, and ask javier to stay posting here! até mais, Mário | |

| carne - a carne de porco = pork o borrego = lamb (brasil -> cordeiro) o bife = steak a carne de vaca = beef o frango = chicken (galinha tambem?) a salsicha = sausage o peixe = fish o marisco = shellfish as ostras = oysters os mexilhoes = mussels os muluscos = clams e claro, a carne deve ser servida com cerveja. sempre. haha (and of course, meat should be served with beer. always. haha) | |
| gzimize | Tuesday 15th of November 2005 03:08:09 AM |
| - well, i didnt see the post of javier. sorry. i'l answer him first: the must be written with lowercase. The only exception if it's the first word in a phrase (of course): Segunda eu vou para a escola (Monday I'll go to school) - Vou para a escola segunda (I'll go to school Monday) the word feira alone means fair. I don't know why the days of the week receive this word after them. If you say only segunda, terça, etc. is correct too. This is an informal language characteristic, but it's becoming more and more common. on Saturday - no sábado on Sunday - no domingo on Monday - na segunda on Tuesday, on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - na terça, na quarta, quinta, sexta today is Sunday - hoje é domingo correcting dan: i've never heard this word: borrego. maybe it's used in Portugal. in Brasil we say cordeiro. and: a carne deve ser servida com cerveja (carne is a female word) | |

| gzimize | Friday 25th of November 2005 06:50:11 AM |
| - oi, javier! you made (i suppose) two typos: quinze and dezanove. it's important to say that, as always, we have vocabulary differences between the standar portuguese and brazilian portuguese. the numbers dezasseis is dezesseis, dezassete is dezessete, etc. and the catorze has another form: quatorze, that is less used, but it's correct too até mais, Mário | |
