| LIÇÃO 4 - ACENTUAÇÃO - Oi! The lesson 4 talks about acentuation (and other diacritics used in the Portuguese language). Portuguese has three accents (acentos): Acento agudo: ´ á é í ó ú Acento circunflexo: ^ â ê ô Crase (also known as acento grave): ` à The two first accents are used to indicate the stress in a word, and the third shows the contraction of the preposition a with some words. We will first take a look in some diacritics (sinais gráficos) used in Portuguese. Note that they aren\'t considered accents and they\'re used to show that that letter has a specific pronunciation. Note that both accents and diacritics are considered as their simple counterpart, they’re not a letter. So in dictionary you will see: acusar - água – alfabeto – praça - pracinha They’ll be explained in parts: 4.1 – CEDILHA (“Ç”) e TIL (~) 4.2 – TREMA (¨) 4.3 – CRASE (`) 4.4 – ACENTOS AGUDO E CIRCUNFLEXO (´ ^) | |
