| can someone help me? - Hello everyone! I will be visiting a friend of mine who is from Romania in about a week or so. She's fluent in english, but her parents are not. And I would like to be able to communicate with them. Can anyone help me with phrases I can say to them? Maybe things like, "Thank you for your hospitality" and other stuff to say? Multumesc pentru timpul tau | |

| - Soon I am going to Moldova, what is the diffrence between Romanian and how they generally speak? Is it just small dialect changes? | |

| - Well, itīs quite difficult to say, Amadeus, as virtually any two different linguists will have different opinions on whatīs a language and whatīs a dialect. :p I would say that the most important differences are at lexical level: there are numerous words commonly used in Moldova which would be considered archaic in Romania and a fair amount of loan words and neologisms from Russian. But, in the end, we do speak the same language. Enjoy your visit to Moldova! :) | |
