Letter writing... : I want to write a nice letter to my friends mother, only I'm not quite sure how to go about the correct way to address her... In the US we would say... Dear Mrs. (Last name)
What would be the polite way of addressing a letter in Romanian? Is it better to use last or first name? Also any other Romanian letter writing tips would be appreciated!

Thanks A Lot!

A Romanian can answer this better but probably you want to say....

Doamna [lastname],
.
.
.

Multumesc!: Probably right about a Romanian being able to answer better
...but still, thanks a lot for taking the time to post a reply!
Multumesc!

First of all Welcome to the Romanian Discuss. It's nice having another Floridian here. Second of all my best guess would be,

Doamna ...

As far as I know Romanian's don't have any title of greater respect when it comes to Mr. /Mrs. But I strongly suggest instead of using the word tu that you use the words dumneata or dumneavoastr?. Both of these are formal ways of saying you. Use dumneata if you've met her before and dumneavoastr? if you haven't. Other than that you should be fine. If you took the time to learn some Romanian she won't care whether its wrong or not. ;)

Hello Sweetkisser

Draga Doamna Ionescu,

This is how you could start a thank you letter in Romanian.
But you could just as well lose the "draga" (dear). It is used to express familiarity.

Thanks guys and gals for all the help!

I never learn much of the formal stuff! Most of what I know in Romanian is pure random stuff! ..but it does have it’s benefits like when my friend frowns and I say Zambeste! ^^ That always puts a smile on her face! :-) ...So I agree even just a little Romanian can brighten someone’s day! ;-)

Thanks for the help – you’ve brighten my day!

Smiles, Dovid
