| - I'm going to adhere to everything Delia has already said here. What might still confuse Spilka is the various ways "some" is used in English. For example: I was reading some book on international relations when you called. (what is meant by "some book" is something like "What was the name of that book again??? I didn't find it particularly interesting, it was just one among many others".) In Romanian this would be translated: [i]Citeam o carte despre relaţiile internaţionale când m-ai sunat.[/i] I was reading a book on international relations when you called- The Romanian translation stays exactly the same: [i]Citeam o carte despre relaţiile internaţionale când m-ai sunat. [/i] I was listening to some music when you called- [i]Ascultam nişte muzică atunci când m-ai sunat.[/i] "O muzică" does not mean "one music" because "music" is an uncountable noun in English. And though Romanian does not differentiate nouns this way, it still does not sound very good to say "o muzică". Like Delia mentioned, it's better to say "nişte muzică". However, there is no such thing as "cea mai preferată", we do not use a grade of comparisson here. It's quite logical, when you think about it: you can prefer something over another, but you either prefer it or not, you don't prefer it more or less. :) "A prefera" already implies a superlative. Hmmm, sărbătoarea mea preferată...pot să spun ziua mea de naştere? :D lol, nu..cred că este Crăciunul..întotdeauna mi s-a părut că are ceva magic şi, pe deasupra, e în timpul iernii, anotimpul meu favorit. | - Oh, it's not in plural Sandman, "unităţii" is the Genitive form of "unitate" so, "Sărbătoarea unităţii naţionale" is "National unity's day" or "The day of national unity". I belive the Genitive case is used in Russian as well to express possession. :) Well, Google is very useful in most cases but it only brings together the work of different people.
