This isn't necessarily true Anda, unless i mistranslated your Romanian. :)
In English the word shadow refers to all objects animate and inanimate.
However the word shade is usually only used with inanimate objects and
is almost always accompanied with the preposiion of.
- The man's shadow was six feet long.
- The tree's shadow was twelve feet long.
- We like to sit in the shade of the tree.
- We like to play in the shade of tall buildings.

But is more correct to say : Îmi place să miros florile primăvara . (I like to smell the flowers in the spring). It sounds awkward in romanian to say "în timpul lunilor primăverii" , although in english makes sense . I hope I hellped you somehow . If you have more questions don`t be afraid to ask !

Valurile au fost foarte frumoase la plajă.
(The waves were very nice at the beach.)
You used "marea" instead of "valurile" because , I suppose you translated it wrong. And you have to accord the adjective with the noun . Valurile is plural un val - două valuri (a wave - two waves) so you have to accord the adjective with it : frumoase . And "very nice " is "foarte frumoase " .

Ohhh :P I'm so dumb. Ninge is a verb. Zăpadă a noun.
One of my biggest problems is I look for an English correspondence to everything I write and translate. I'm trying to break from that. If you have any suggestions or ideas to break free of this. Please let me know.
