Where does the stress go? - What are the basic rules governing stress in Romanian? For example:
- in the conjugation of verbs?
- (how) does the stress in singular and plural differ?
- how does the stress change when I use the definite article?
- what is the most common position for stress in Romanian, if there is one?

Thanks for clarifying this a bit.

- Hi Preno!

you mean stress when pronouncing, right? I'll try to explain as well as I can, given I'm not a teacher.Hope I'm not wrong.

The main rule is that the stress usually goes on the ante-last syllable: picioare, perete, femeie etc.

But there are exceptions, especially in the infinitive of verbs: a ridica, a simula, a construi etc.
Other exceptions: pasăre, bărbat, copil, calculator etc.

When using the definite article, basically the stress doesn't change: pasăre - pasărea, construcţie - construcţia, perete - peretele etc.
