Lucia - Tomorrow (tuesday) it's Lucia in Sweden. Yet again on the 13th of december you'll see girls clad in white with live candles in their hair singing about an Italian saint (yes you heard me right). And don't forget the horde of lads, also clad in white, accompanying her. Often with a big pointy hat and a star like wand in their hand. A third part of the retinue is the santas. If you've been really naughty they will wake you up with their song and try to poison you with "lussebullar" and "pepparkakor". Then some "glögg" for the finishing blow. Bewre!!!

- Most schools have their own Lucia train (yes, train - "luciatåg"), which means that you skip approximatly half an hour of lessons to watch the Lucia train. Too bad we are going to watch it during my favorite subject tomorrow. Gah!

Things feared by Lucia train participants (personal experience):
1. Tripping on a robe.
2. Accidently putting someone's hair on fire with the candle.
3. Singing the wrong text/forgetting it.

What everyone speaks about the days before Lucia is if someone will trip on a robe and set the school on fire.

In daycares it can turn out quite interesting as every girl wants to be the Lucia, which means that all girls wear crowns with electric candles, with lots of parents thinking that the train is "so cute" and that they sing wonderfully.
