Basic Phrases of Turkish - Now I got some time, I want to write some basics here:
hello = merhaba
how are you? = nasılsın? ( how are you ? = nasılsınız?)
I'm fine = iyiyim
thank you = teşekkür ederim
thanks = teşekkürler
thank you so much = çok teşekkür ederim
goodbye = güle güle
see you later = (sonra) görüşürüz
see you tomorrow = yarın görüşürüz
What's your job? = İşiniz( or mesleğiniz) ne?
I'm a student = Öğrenciyim.
I'm a teacher = Öğretmenim.
I'm bored = Sıkıldım.
I'm hungry = Acıktım.
I'm thirsty = Susadım.
I'm tired = Yoruldum.
My head is aching a lot. = Başım çok ağrıyor.
I have to go now = Şimdi gitmem gerek.

I'd better go now and have some rest... See you later everyone, bye for now

P.S. =( By the way, can you read Turkish fonts?)

- Don't forget to tell the punters that Turkish is a "lastik gibi" language. It'll stretch wherever you want it to.
It's also the most regular language in the world, with NO irregular forms. It's amazing really. English has the most words, Chinese the most "letters" (characters), Russian the most devillish grammar. But Turkish is the most logical. And that's a fact.

Öğretmenim = I'm a teacher
Öğretmenim = My teacher

Yes, it means both those things! Wacky, but wonderful :)

Sıkıldım or S*kild*m - Do be careful to write and pronounce "Sıkıldım" correctly.
If you say it as if it had dots on the i's you're saying something very crude! Forewarned is forearmed. :)

Давай будем писа - Давай будем писать вещи по-русски здесь!
Здесь еще почти ничего по-русски. Это не полезно ;(

Russian Forum - Hey Mehmet and Adam!
Let's write in Russian in the Russian forum? Since Turkish and Russian are not closely related, we would confuse our Turkish Colleagues by writing in cyrillic in this thread, so instead I propose we write here instead: Russian Forum
I look forward to talking with you both.

- Sorry Anya, I can't write in Russian forum because I forgot most of the Cyril Alphabet and my keyboard doesn't support it. I just know some basics of Russian. But I would be glad to help anyone with their Turkish here.

- I am a native turkish speaker and i am really flattered with Adam Ant's message. I didn't know my language was apreciated that much. And I didn't think there were people who were trying to learn it.
Thank you Adam Ant.

Russian the most devillish grammar.

Öğretmenim = I'm a teacher
Öğretmenim = My teacher

Have you ever tried Finnish? ;) Russian grammar is simple in comparison. But that's interesting about those words meaning the same thing - it's the same in Finnish, when certain endings are added. And there are (controversial) ideas that the Uralic and Altaic language families are related..

Anyway, Turkish is on my list for learning in the future so I shall be around!

the little difference - A sidenote: While these two words look the same,
what makes them mean different is the stress on different
syllables. to mean "my teacher" you put the stress on
öğretmen-IM

yet to mean "I'm a teacher" it is like öğret-MEN-im

so these two meanings can be distinguished easily in conversation and also in the context.

Romance Phrases - My husband is Turkish and I am Mexican. I am trying to learn Turkish. Right now I need help with nice things to say to him in Turkish. You know, romantic stuff. To start, how do you say Happy Anniversary?

Song Translation - I translated this song (by Luis Miguel) from Spanish to English.
Can anyone help translate it from English to Turkish?

it's me
who looks at the rain
and remembers you
it's me
also
who needs you
and it feels like dying
it's me
it's me
who with your word
has begun to feel
the one
who in the clouds
has started to live
stop going in circles of doubt without stopping
it's me
it's me
who seeks the finding
to be yours
it's me
and I am the one who has given my all
without thinking of myself
the one that a star
from the sky wants to bring you down
with only having you
wakes with the desire to love
the one who most brings you closer
and most able to predict you
it's me
If one day the complete universe you want I will give
Don't forget this crazy person you have in this life
it's me
who has yearned for you the most
and who has waited for you the most
it's me

- I am no romantic but let me try. Special thanks to Stormgoblin who gave the "shootingstar" idea.

it's me
who looks at the rain
and remembers you

Yağmura bakıp seni hatırlayan benim,

it's me
also
who needs you
and it feels like dying

Sena ihtiyacı olan yine benim, ve bu ölmek gibi bir şey

it's me
it's me
who with your word
has begun to feel
the one
who in the clouds
has started to live

Bir sözcüğünle hissetmeye, bulutlar üzerinde yaşamaya başlayan benim, benim o

stop going in circles of doubt without stopping

Şüphe döngülerine dalıp gitmeyi bırak

it's me
it's me
who seeks the finding
to be yours

Senin olanı bulmaya çalışan benim, benim o

it's me
and I am the one who has given my all
without thinking of myself

Kendisini düşünmeden her şeyini veren,

the one that a star
from the sky wants to bring you down
with only having you
wakes with the desire to love

Aşk arzusuyla uyanman için gökyüzünde kayan yıldız olan

the one who most brings you closer
and most able to predict you

Seni kendisine en fazla yakınlaştıran, seni herkesten çok sezinleyen benim

it's me
If one day the complete universe you want I will give
Don't forget this crazy person you have in this life

Günün birinde bütün evreni istersen onu sana verecek olan benim
Bu hayatta sahip olduğun çılgın adamı aklından çıkarma

it's me
who has yearned for you the most
and who has waited for you the most
it's me

Seni en çok arzulayan, seni herkesten çok bekleyen benim, benim o
