| IMPORTANT: SURVEY FOR TURKISH LEARNERS - Hi everybody! Herkese merhaba! As you know, i am trying to improve myself about teaching Turkish to foreigners. This May, i am going to Istanbul to attend a foreign language education related international conference. | - heey i got a big doubt on sumfin , can u plz tell me which of this sentences is da correct one? and wots da difference between them?? 1. hakan ile çıkmadığın zaman üzgün mu? 2. hakan ile çıkmadığın zaman üzüldün mu? basically i wud like to knw da difference between \"üzülmek\" and \"üzgün\" btw wot i was tryin to ask in this sentence was \" were u sad when u stopped seein hakan? \" ı thınk da sentences are all messed up :S:S | |

| - Best translation of what you want to say is: Hakan\'la çıkmayı bıraktığında (=bıraktığın zaman) üzülmüş müydün? üzgün is an adjective means sad üzülmek is a verb, means to feel sad, to be sorry | |

| - Actually, the first sentence is wrong but the second one has no problem. But Hati\'s version is best version. But if you make those two sentences when talking to someone, people will understand you :) The important thing is just to try! Don\'t be afraid of mistakes.. As you see, in your first sentence the one who was sad is somebody else, not you. And in the second one there is a meaning that you are still dating Hakan but something happened and you didn\'t meet him on that occasion. It doesn\'t imply that you are not seeing/dating him any more... | |
