| sentence construction - Merhaba everyone! I am just beginning to learn Turkish. From several websites I have learned some vocabulary and a few common phrases. I am practicing by writing short dialogues, but I have had to infer rules about sentence structure from the few phrases I know. Could someone tell me what the correct order is for writing subject, verb, object, and so on? Pardon me if this question is already answered elsewhere on this forum. SaÄŸol. | |

| - Turkish has free word order but mainly it is; Subject + Object + Verb There are some other variations such as; Object + Subject + Verb Subject + Verb + Object Verb + Object + Subject etc. Most of Turkish people prefer SOV. But when you want to use any of the variations above, you should be aware of some factors such as emphasis. If you don\'t know where to put stress, you may not be understood well. But Turkish people will understand you quite well as long as you pronounce every single letter. Because the stress is not as much as important as in Spanish or Italian. Enjoy it! :) | |
