| Türkçe Deyimler ve Atasözleri - Hello everyone! For those who are trying to learn Turkish... Hope these proverbs and idioms help you get the essence of the Turkish language and make your conversations in Turkish more fun and colorful:) Here we go!! "Dağ dağa kavuşmaz, insan insana kavuşur." -proverb I first wrote this to my dear friend Gijs. Its translation would be "The mountains do not come together but people do." It is meant to encourage people in believing that they will eventually be able to come together with their loved ones no matter how far away they may be at the moment. Another one 'Sabir acidir ama meyvesi tatlidir' (patience is bitter but bearing sweet fruits ). I found this in a book with turkish language lessons for greek speakers especially. | |

| Tarzan Türkçesi ;) - merhaba dostum! hey Panos, it is great to see you here. efharisto for adddition you made. i have no doubt we share similar/same cultures for more than thousand years! this is also why we have similar idioms. and here is new idiom >>>> a bit funny Tarzan Türkçesi ;) it is used people who dont know Turkish well. we say "he uses Tarzan Turkish accent" ;) but this idiom doesnt contain mocking,or bad expression or intention.it is totally for fun. for example if a Turkish native speaker makes a mistake itself, S/he can use this expression too. and if you wonder what Tarzan means... it is : a man raised by apes who was the hero of a series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs a man of great strength and agility. have fun! hoşçakal! | |

| Turkish idioms - Hi, My favorite Turkish saying is 'gülü seven tikenine katlanır', those who love roses put up with or tolerate its thorns. Basically it means that no one is perfect and if you love someone you will tolerate their shortcomings, just like you would tolerate thorns of a rose if you like it. | - The fact that I studied Hebrew all day reminded me of an idiom that perfectly describes my situation right now... KAFAM ŞİŞTİ!!!!!!! The exact translation would be "my head is swollen." But idiomatically means that u had enough of something after spending too much time on it and now feel that your brain cannot take any more of whatever you are doing. :p Another usage is when someone nags at you all the time and you feel physically disturbed after a while!!! | |
