Yay for PhraseBase! - Hi all. I am new to this website and wanted to say \"hi.\" I married a Pakistani man 1 year ago and am trying to learn Urdu. It\'s not going well so far as it is very difficult to find actual classes, which is the arena in which I learn best. Anyway, this website and forum are encouraging. It\'s nice to know there are so many others out there learning and generous native speakers willing to help. Thanks! I look forward to corresponding with you.

hello - Do you mean i am wrong here?i think i am going okey:

read the frist one

1-woh kal aayii=she(respected)came yesterday
instead
-woh kal ayee
as she=female=aayii(single),so i think i am right.
and the 2nd one aayengii as future perfect tense
:

2-woh kal aayengii=she(respected)will come tomorrow
instead
2-woh kal aayenge
she=female=aayengii(respected)

please tell me again if you have still confusion about it
Rainbow_OasisMonday 26th of March 2007 08:29:59 PM
- No, I don\'t mean you are wrong. I was just confused as to how to interpret your answer.

E.g.: \"A instead B\" can be interpreted the following ways (at least I did):p :
A is wrong, use B instead.
I should use A instead of B.
woh kal aayii=she(respected)came yesterday
instead
-woh kal ayee
shahzad_bangashWednesday 28th of March 2007 09:11:58 PM
OOOOOOOk - Dear,
Its ok what ever you use and this is not your native language for me the right one is B not the A
shahzad_bangashWednesday 28th of March 2007 09:20:38 PM
No you are wrong -

my dear zahid koni
Just tell me when we give respect to someone in urdu then we use APP not Tum. App is use for more than one then why we use it for one person.
same case is here when we give respect then we will use
wo kal ayee not ayii got it now if still some confusion then you clear to me and explain it

Rainbow_OasisSunday 01st of April 2007 01:03:14 AM
- Hi Annie786,
On the Urdu class have the following been posted:
originally posted by koonh6
The difference between agar and magar.....They both are used to mention a condition. I would like to add more explanation for the interest of you and all other fellow learners.
agar= in case, in the event of
magar= Unless,perhaps,except,if not,only,however,moreover.

Agar is mostly used in the beginning of a sentence whereas Magar is used in the middle. Eg.Agar app school jate to boht achha hota magar app ga-ey he naheenh.

originally written by Wordmaster
Agar, is used exactly like the english IF. However magar, is used like the english \"but\" and can not explain conditions but is only used to set apart to contrasting statements.

Woh aana chahta hai magar main nahi chahta ke wo aaye
He wants to come but I dont want him too

Agar woh aya tou main nahi aaoounga
If he comes then I won\'t.
more on this in the Urdu class which you can find here:
http://www.phrasebase.com/forum/post.php?action=reply&TID=19206

I\'ll leave the translation up to someone native. :)
