| help with 'th' - I've been trying to help two Vietnamese girls with their English. We found out that the "th" is something that I can't seem to teach them. We've worked on words like "the" and "thief". The best they can do is an "z" sound or an "s" sound. Does anybody have any suggestions on methods we can try. They can't seem to make their tongues work quite like an english speaking person. | |

| - hum, back in primary school they taught us to make the "th"-sound by slightly pushing our tongue against our teeth and breathing out. it's something like that, i don't quite remember, it's become an automatism. | |

| - A speech therapist I knew used to tell kids to "bite your tongue" and hold it there. Then exhale quickly like an exasperated sigh while letting go of your tongue. Hope it helps ~ | |
