Vietnamese in general - Greeting
The vietnamese greet each other using the word CHÀO .This is followed by either a name or a kinship term(or both). However,if you use CHÀO only,it\'ll be considered not very polite.
CHÀO can be used at any time ò the day.It means both hello and goodbye( recently people do use the term \"TẠM BIỆT\" as saying goodbye)

eg: Chào Hoa > hello Hoa
Chào cô > hello miss
Chào ông > hello mister

More Details - On the other hand, some Vietnamese also greet each other \"Chào bạn, bạn khỏe ko?\" means \"Hi how are u?\" Very few people say \"Có ǵ mới ko?\" means \"what\'s up?\". This phrase is very popular in America but not in VietNam. When u wanna say goodbye to someone we use to say \"Chào bạn,hẹn gặp lại\" means \"Bye,see you again.\".
