Useage of Cookies

 

  
Cookies

Phrasebase relies on cookies to keep you logged in and track your language settings from page to page. If you are experiencing problems remaining logged in to the site or setting your language preferences, it is most likely due to the fact that your internet browser is not handling your cookies appropriately.

A cookie is a small amount of data that a website stores on your computer. In the case of Phrasebase it allows us to understand your native language, the language you want to learn and whether or not you are logged in as a forum member. Without using cookies, then we would need to ask you these questions each new page you visit.

 
   Windows Systems
To enable/disable the cookies in Internet Explorer 6.x on a PC:
  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select the TOOLS menu and then click INTERNET OPTIONS
  3. Select the PRIVACY Tab
  4. Move the slider up or down depending upon the desired level of security you would like
  5. You may also click the ADVANCED button and select how cookies are handled from the presented options

To enable/disable the cookies in Internet Explorer 5.x on a PC: 

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select the TOOLS menu and then click INTERNET OPTIONS
  3. Select the Security Tab then click the button labeled CUSTOM LEVEL
  4. Scroll down to COOKIES and select the desired level of security from the presented options

 To enable/disable the cookies in Internet Explorer 4.x on a PC: 

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Select the VIEW menu and then click INTERNET OPTIONS
  3. Select the ADVANCED Tab
  4. Scroll down to SECURITY and then COOKIES
  5. Select the desired level of security from the presented options

 To enable/disable the cookies in Netscape 4.x on a PC: 

  1. Open Netscape
  2. Select the EDIT menu and then click PREFERENCES
  3. Scroll down to ADVANCED
  4. Select the desired level of cookie acceptance from the COOKIES options
  
   Mac Systems
To enable/disable the cookies in Internet Explorer 5.x on a MAC:
 
  1. Open INTERNET EXPLORER
  2. Click EDIT and select the PREFERENCES option
  3. Under the RECEIVING FILES option, select COOKIES
  4. Next to "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
  5. Click OK to finish

To enable/disable the cookies in Netscape 4.x on a MAC: 

  1. Open Netscape
  2. Select the EDIT menu and then click PREFERENCES
  3. Scroll down to ADVANCED
  4. Select the desired level of cookie acceptance from the COOKIES options

  
   Mozilla Firefox
To enable/disable the cookies in Mozilla Firefox:
 

Please Note: Firefox does NOT remember your cookies settings each time you visit phrasebase. Each new visit, you must manually enter your language settings and forum member login.

  1. Open INTERNET EXPLORER
  2. Click EDIT and select the PREFERENCES option
  3. Under the RECEIVING FILES option, select COOKIES
  4. Next to "When receiving cookies:" select the desired level of cookie acceptance
  5. Click OK to finish

  1. Open Netscape

To enable/disable the cookies Using Other Internet Browsers:
 

Frankly, if you are using a different internet browser other than what is listed above, then you should be experienced enough to figure out how to anable your cookies.
