How do I find a language exchange partner?

December 3rd, 2007

In order to find a language exchange partner, first you need to Sign Up for a Phrasebase Language Learning Community Membership Account and describe who you are, where you are from, your time zone, and the target language you want to learn.

As a member, you are able to view the forum for like-minded individuals who may want to learn your language in exchange for you teaching them your native language. Browse throught the forum of topics and read through several posts, in particular, the Introductions form, and this will give you and idea of who’s who at Phrasebase, allowing you to find someone most compatible with your personality.

However, the fastest way to find a language exchange partner is to either Browse or search the community database. Browsing is easiest, allowing you to find a suitable partner by specifying your browse criteria such as native language, practicing language, how you want to practice, country, sex and even age range. You can then write an email or Private Message (PM) directly from Phrasebase to these people and arrange to practice through email, Private Messaging, text chat, Skype or the Phrasebse Audio/Video Language Learning Classroom.
